Hi usuario,

Yes, I am aware of this one.

We pushed the annotated tag and the commit in one push command, and rely on the ‘git describe’ command to find the release name

Looks like we may need something more explicit in the current hit describe command.

Thanks for bringing this up.

The next 2.2.1.5 will also focus on multilingual support. Updating the translations has been overdue for a while.

 From AI on my phone:
The "unverified developer" warning is normal for LibreCAD because it's an open-source project and not signed by Apple. The software is safe and can be installed by bypassing macOS Gatekeeper. Here's how:

How to Fix the "Unverified Developer" Error
Try to open LibreCAD from your Applications folder — it will fail and show the warning.
Go to System Settings > Privacy & Security.
Scroll down and look for a message like:
"LibreCAD was blocked from opening because it is not from an identified developer."
Click Open Anyway.
Return to Applications and try opening LibreCAD again — this time, click Open in the confirmation dialog.
This is a one-time process. After approval, LibreCAD will launch normally.

🔐 Note: LibreCAD is safe. The warning appears because Apple requires paid developer certificates to sign apps — many open-source projects, including LibreCAD, don't pay for this.

well, that's a good point. Actually, libdxfrw within LibreCAD is also updated as part of generic development, yet probably something useful may be be in added in that fork too.

However, from the very first glance - changes there are quite minor and similar code is present in LC version of the library. Yet it will requrie deeper investigation - so thank you for reporting anyway.

 Hi everyone,

I've been following the development of the libdxfrw library and noticed that the fork maintained by codelibs has several commits and improvements that aren't yet present in the official LibreCAD/libdxfrw repository.

Given the importance of DXF/DWG support for LibreCAD, would it be possible for a maintainer to review the work done here?

 Yes, that's confusing.

I just did a simple fix: latest builds for the 2.2.1 branch are now under the tag: 2.2.1-latest:

https://github.com/LibreCAD/LibreCAD/releases/tag/2.2.2_alpha-latest

There may still be some fixes needed for the tags generated by "git describe"

Hello,

I have a question regarding the naming scheme and chronology of the latest LibreCAD versions.

I noticed that version v2.2.1.2 (Released/Final) was released on July 13, 2025, while version 2.2.1.1_rc-latest (Release Candidate) was released later, on October 15, 2025.

My question is: Are these dates and version names correct? In standard versioning, a version released later in time (October 2025) should have a higher number. Shouldn't this release candidate be 2.2.1.3 instead of a test version from the 2.2.1.1 branch?

Thank you in advance for the clarification.

That's true. The 2.2.1 was an attempt to reach a stable release, after some wild late merging of new features. Even with 2.2.1.3 (roughly one year after 2.2.1's initial release), we still got some embarrassing issues persist (like icon, win32 displayed version, etc., I just fixed).

2.2.2 was getting even wilder. So wild to justify a 2.3 branch. I'm open to that approach: 1. rename 2.2.2 to 2.3.0-alpha; 2. continue to stablize the branch, while still open to new features.

For 2.2.1 branch, please also help bug fixing, so we could provide a truly stable 2D CAD for the community.

 Hello,

It is possible that the original question was not explained clearly, so the following provides a more detailed description.

On January 11, 2026, LibreCAD version 2.2.1.3 was released and tagged as LibreCAD-v2.2.1.3-2 [1].

Later, on January 23, 2026, version 2.2.1.3_rc-latest was released and tagged as LibreCAD-v2.2.1.3-3 [2].

Is this version tagging scheme correct? Respectfully, it is considered that the current naming and release approach may lead to some confusion.

For instance, when encountering a version labeled 2.2.1.3_rc-latest, it is generally assumed to be a release candidate for an upcoming 2.2.1.3 stable release. However, in the case of LibreCAD, that stable version had already been released earlier.

Perhaps the version released on January 23 could have been named 2.2.1.4_rc-latest or 2.2.1.3-3_rc-latest to better reflect its purpose and avoid ambiguity.

Additionally, this is an opportunity to ask whether there is a roadmap or estimated release date for version 2.2.2. This upcoming version has remained in an alpha state for several months, which typically suggests that it may continue to receive new features and functionality before eventually entering a hypothetical beta (stabilization) phase and its corresponding release candidates.

Once again, appreciation is expressed for all the effort invested in making LibreCAD better every day.

Best regards,

1. https://github.com/LibreCAD/LibreCAD/releases/tag/v2.2.1.3

2. https://github.com/LibreCAD/LibreCAD/releases/tag/2.2.1.3_rc-latest

sudo codesign --force --deep --sign - LibreCAD.app

Compared with previous changes, Windows builds are built using MSVC instead of MinGW.

Hey friend, since previous versions of LibreCAD I've noticed that when the software units are in inches, the line width appears thick on screen, but when working in meters, the line width isn't visible. Is this normal? Is it possible for the line to appear thick when working in meters?

Thanks for bringing this up. The issue is fixed for Windows installers in 2.2.1, and I will test other builds.

if it was built later, it was also from newer codebase. The version number could be mistaken though.

We are releasing 2.2.1.3 soon (just feel free to download and test from Release Candidates")

 @sand1024,

I tested with different WCS settings, and no rendering issue is found.

From the code level, lc_hyperbola::draw() calls existing RS_Painter::drawSplinePointsWCS(), so it's using existing WCS support, rendering in graph coordinates.

And just in case - please also check the implementation for the case with active UCS that is rotated - just to ensure correct rendering.

 Happy new year to everyone!

While 2025 saw some heavy development in LibreCAD-master, I didn't get enough development time to complete the last piece of conics support in LibreCAD: a new primitive geometry: hyperbola.

The features are getting production ready, and PR merging is expected soon, if no serious issue is found.

The PR: https://github.com/LibreCAD/LibreCAD/pull/2402

Any suggestion is welcome!
