Hi LordOfBikes,

I just tested Chinese and French translations in 2.2.1.4. There’s essentially no translation beyond standard buttons, such as OKAY, cancel.

I suppose it’s similar for other languages.

Looks like we have to push a little bit on translation.

 Welcome Isegrimm_666!

This is the translation sub forum, so you're at the right place.

In the top pinned thread is the link to our wiki, where you find more instructions.
I just copied it for you: https://dokuwiki.librecad.org/doku.php/community:contribute_translate.

There is no registration for the wiki needed, all content is free available.
Except you'd like to contribute to wiki articles too. Then read the red text on the wiki start page an follow the instructions (https://dokuwiki.librecad.org/doku.php/start).

So you have to follow the instructions in the wiki and register an account for Weblate.
All information on how to translate on Weblate is provided there, it is an external service.
LibreCAD on Weblate is here: https://hosted.weblate.org/projects/librecad/
But this is also linked in the wiki and on our Website https://translate.librecad.org/

Armin

Ah, that's nice. So, I can now continue my translation with ease.

One question, though: why TS files of some languages, such as en_AU, fi, hi, id_ID, sq_AL, zh_CN, zh_TW, come with message locations (the source files and line numbers the messages are located), while others, th included, come without? The message location is very helpful for choosing translated terms to suit the context. And I think it should always be available.

After translations on weblate are submitted, the generated "*.ts" files will be integrated into LibreCAD's next builds, pending the maintainer integration of those files.

It's still a good idea to remind the maintainer (LordOfBikes) in the forum that you have added translations.

qm files contain the translation data, but the application also needs to be updated too, so LibreCAD should also be rebuilt (with ts files) to see your translations.

Persian or Arabic fonts for librecad

Hello , I'm using Librecad and have problem with persian fonts. Amiri-regular has beautiful fonts but it is backward , not connected and just have isolated form of every letter.
.
There is the same problem in Autocad too. But also there have some options for making it better. There are some options in font window like "backward" and also there is an "app" ?! Called "Kateb.lsp" and with apploader inside Autocad , Kateb could give sth like persian or arabic fonts, using persian shx fonts and also turning on "backward" option. It is still not connected (with narrow space between letters) and there are some bugs but some how it works. and there are middle and final forms of letters.
.
Is it possible to use "kateb.lsp" or something like that in librecad for typing persian?
.
Thanks in advance for your help.

 Hello.
I will still do some tweaks, but I have completed the Serbian (Cyrillic) translation of LibreCAD and Plugins.

Only thing left to do is to again translate the Codepage selection dropdown from English to Serbian. (I translated it in one place and need to complete in another).

Either way, the translation has been tested on master and qt6 branch but I will check if there are some things I missed.

I had a long day today, but as is, it is ready for testing and soon with other people's input it can be 100% complete.

Are there any other Serbian speaking users or developers around ?

 Hi EgbertBroerse,

you probably followed the instructions in the wiki.
Sadly, the infos are outdated, because we change the translation platform.
Because the new service is still locked for contributions, we didn't update our sites yet.

I've done this now, to avoid further confusions.

Long story short, you can register on Weblate to contribute in translation there.
Find the links on the new wiki page https://dokuwiki.librecad.org/doku.php/community:contribute_translate.

As already said, the service is still locked currently, but you can sign up for a notification when the components are unlocked.

Many thanks for your efforts!

 ciao Robbe,
spero che tu comprenda l'italiano perchè mi eviti di usare il traduttore. Sono alla ricerca di un cad free e LibreCAD sembra andar bene per i miei piccoli progetti. A quanto pare il traduttore non funziona e tu hai trovato il modo con un nuovo file libreria di ottenere LibreCAD in italiano. Ti ringrazio se vorrai condividere con me questo tuo file di traduzione. Grazie

Have you considered migrating to Weblate? It provides VCS integration features and works nicely with Git.

Many thanks @robbe for your efforts and your intention to share your work.

The synchronization of the translation server with GitHub is broken, so we deactivated the server to avoid loss of efforts.

I'll send you a private message where you can sent the file to.

Many thanks again,

Armin

 Hi,

I've traslated Librecad in italian language (not 100% but more accurate and more complete than current translation I hope :).

With "Qt 5 linguist" program on my Ubuntu, loaded librecad_it.ts file (found on github), made translation, released as librecad_it.qm file and replaced old file.

It works.

I know this is not the correct way but I needed a decent translation for my students and the translation server doesn't work since long time.

if anyone wants to have the translated file let me know.

Best regards

We lost the possibility to sync the translation server with GitHub repository.
That's the reason why we put the server sown, to avoid loss of contributions.

We already have a new hosted service in mind, it needs GitHub integrations, but this needs modifications on the GitHub code base first.
It is planned after the release of 2.2.0.
