Printable pdf User Manual from Wiki

I registered last month to help develop the LibreCad documentation.

I read the 36-pages user manual by Bob Woltz, which is more a starter guide than a user manual; it is this document which got me started with LibreCAD.

And I looked at the wiki site which is rather complete and well done at first sight.

I may be old style, but I like printed documentation. What I would like to see is a pdf document reproducing the wiki site information in a printable book style, with a table of contents and a word index. Does that make sense to anybody ? If there is interest for that, I am willing to produce that document.

 Hi,
There are of course standards to draw and I found the CAD standards on the website of the city of Antwerp Belgium. See this link:

https://abosl.ebp.be/Export/2010024626_87005_03_bijlage3_CAD_handboek_BK_v2.pdf
This PDF is of course in dutch but with the help of google translate it is of course possible to generate parts in other languages yourself.

I am new to CAD and Librecad looks ideal for my simple needs.
The latest version is 2.3.1 The manual and on line tutorials all refer to earlier versions. This is probably ok if you understand CAD
As a general point, all manuals and tutorials should be reviewed by a new potential user to check they are fit for purpose. One on line tutor has the mouse pointer rushing round the screen far too fast. You cannot teach faster than the pupil can follow.
I am making some progress but, like many posts, I seem to have problems with hatching.
Great program but needs to be more user friendly for newbies.

Over two years ago, I opened a thread called "Splines Please" here:

http://forum.librecad.org/Splines-please-td5709981.html

It simply went dead. Can I conclude that this function is not available in LibreCad? I would like an answer one way or another so I can move on. If it is available and developed in LibreCad, I would like some assistance and instructions of how to use it. If it is not, I would like to know so I can move onto another CAD application that does support splines, or complex curves.

Jim.
I was wondering if you would welcom if I modify in a more serious format (I mean, clear all the smiles, more formal impostation etcetera). What do you think?

Given the nature of how this software is developed over time, I see it as being more important to have a manual for it, that is available instead of no manual at all.

The book needs to be listed as as being subject to updates - at the outset.

The chapters or parts of them need to be qualified under 3 criteria.

1. Current with version XYZ.

2. Under Revision.

3. Needs Documentation - submissions requested.

Then apply monthly updates and releases of the same manual.

A reasonably current manual, with qualifications, is much better than NO manual.

Especially for new users (important) and users considering incorporating this into their software array, or for teaching it.

This is a fundamental "deal maker / deal breaker"issue.

Rather than just whine about it, I'd be prepared to help out and do it myself - as a collaborative effort.
