 Hello ...

I am currently despairing over a step that I absolutely cannot manage:

I am drawing - in an isometric illustration - as part of a room view a round table with a round base plate, connected by a center column.

Both ellipses are finished, as is the center column. However, the stand would cover a rear part of the ellipse. That's why I'm trying to cut out the small piece of the ellipse of the base plate that is covered by the stand (see picture).

Translated with DeepL.com (free version)

It doesn't work.

I have tried with “Trim”, with “Divide” ... nothing works.

How can I implement this?

 Hallo Community ...

I feel so stupid asking this especially when I have 6 plus years working with a software, but I am attempting to convert a spline that was created through points into a polyline. I have attempted exploding it multiple times and it does not work. It does with a normal spline, but spline through points it does not. So is this an oversight on the development, is there something wrong, or am I overlooking something?

Given radius circle tangent to two crossing lines

 Hello,
I have been wondering for some time how to draw a given radius circle tangent to two crossing lines.
Here is the solution I found and I would welcome any other suggestions.
1- draw two crossing lines.
2- create a construction layer.
3- Build the same two lines on the new layer, they will be endless.
4- Still on the construction layer, draw a fillet with the required radius,
5- On the drawing layer, draw a circle with the "centre, point" tool, using the centre of the fillet and its radius.
The lines and circle will be perfectly tangent, for instance the "trim" will work on both lines.

Regards,

Christian

Hi. I want to use the librecad program to pattern leather goods. I don't know how to create a curved line from points at a given distance. It would be nice to be able to customize the type of lines(dotted, dashed) for this purpose. Or how can this be done differently, anyone have any tips?

 Hallo Freunde!

Hi I am new to LibreCad and CNC. I am making a drawing/file of a plywood sheet with multiple holes drilled throughout. I am OK with how to show & locate the holes. But what I don't know is what does the person who runs the CNC need from the file? Just the centerpoints of all of the holes & then a note about the diameter? Or if the drawing shows all of the holes(circles), then the transfer of the file into the CNC language will include the centerpoints?

Thanks for any help that you can give me.

Dimensions vs X Y coordinates

I want to use the Cartesian X-Y coordinates information in the lower left corner of the screen to draw entities on my project plan.

By using an image on a layer as a template on which to overlay a site plan drawing, I intend to generate a Letter size page for a DIY home improvement project that requires a permit.

Previously, I have had an architectural floor plan drawing scanned and rendered as a PDF. With that file opened in Libre Draw, it was scaled to an A4 page, exported as a SVG that is then imported into LibreCAD onto a similarly sized page. With the proper settings in Drawing Preferences, the measurement functions work. This process was not arrived at in a straight forward manner. Many hours of research were required off-and-on for this solution, so I cannot say I remember exactly how I got this to work. For some reason the coordinate readout corresponds to the drawing's measurements.

With my current project, I am attempting to create a drawing within a portion of an image. I have successfully set up the proper dimensions in the Drawing Preferences/Dimensions/General Scale and Length Factor windows so that the largest real world length will fit into the portion of the application form image/template. The length measurement functions on the drawing correctly indicate the real world measurements. I want to draw a line that represents a fence line that will be the the reference edge from which the other features will be placed in the drawing.

The thing that escapes me is when I want to use the X-Y readout at the bottom of the screen to create a line that will correspond to those real world dimensions, the two references do not agree. I have been unable to adjust any parameter in either the Drawing Preferences or the Print Preview/Scale that will cause this to work.

Although I have already learned the software sufficiently to generate a couple of drawings, I do not consider myself to be a proficient LiberCAD user. I rely mostly on the tools not the command line.

Can someone point me to what I have missed?

Please note: LibreCAD 2.1.2 on a Ubuntu 18.04 OS.

If you work with architectural or furniture drawings, I believe this is the best way to work with scale drawings.

Here are some tips:

- First of all, read the User Manual: https://docs.librecad.org/en/latest/about/index.html

- Draw everything in full scale (1:1), even your blocks.

- Learn how to use the Library Browser Dock to insert everything that is standardized.

- Use the scale factor to insert drawings or texts that require printing scale adjustment, such as sheets, title blocks, finish schedules, standart details, etc...

- Whenever you create a new block, make sure that it has been saved with the same measurement units as your default model (see Application Preferences and Drawing Preferences) or this will generate a scale incompatibility with the line weight configuration.

- Adjust the printing scale factor according to the scale defined when inserting the block.

- Watch the workflow demo

Demo.mp4

- For now, that's it...
