I've changed the paper orientation in librecad, and changed it at the printer screen. I've told it to accept changes and to ignore changes. It continues to print as landscape across a portrait page. My linux go to guy says it sounds like it's sending to the printer as an IPP, internet print protocol. Printer is a brother MFC J6955W on tabloid size sheets. Printer driver is Brother for Linux. I've even redone my drawing on a portrait page layout, with the same results.

 Hello all,
I'm new to LibreCAD, so please excuse my ignorance when it comes to all the functions in this program. I have been using AutoCAD for years, but my license is up and I cannot sustain the cost. I only just learned about LibreCAD and I'm very excited to start using this program!

I am having difficulty importing my previous projects from AutoCAD. I exported my projects to .dwf format (though it doesn't appear that I can do anything with those. Next I used an online converter to convert my .dwg files to .dxf format. I can open the .dxf files in AutoCAD still (though I lost my paper space layouts, but that's not such a big deal).

When I attempt to open my .dxf files in LibreCAD, however, I receive the following prompt:

You can see in my screen snip that my project is visible behind the error message. When I select "OK," that all goes away. I've tried zooming in, and zooming out, as has been suggested in other forum threads. My project is not there, and the application header does not display my project name.

Since AutoCAD is the only other CAD software I've ever used, and I am so new to LibreCAD, I am really at a loss on what to do next. I have another 25 days before my AutoCAD license expires, and I'm in a bit of a state of panic. I greatly appreciate any help from the LibreCAD community! Thanks in advance.

Problems with the Rotate Tool in Debian
Hello, dear friends, I wanted to report a couple of problems. When I use the Rotate tool, for example, to rotate a square and align it with a straight reference line, the square isn't perfectly aligned. There's a slight, almost imperceptible misalignment that's only noticeable when zoomed in. This only happens on Debian Trixie; this problem doesn't exist on Windows. I'm using LibreCAD version 2.2.1.3, and the Align plugin is broken on both Debian trixie and Windows 10.

Problem creating new double-point, vertical and horizontal lines

When creating a new double point line, I click at a point on the drawing to start the line. This moves the relative zero to the point where I clicked and creates a new line (with no apparent endpoint) that rotates around the new relative zero location. The new line extends far past the drawing area.

When creating a new vertical or horizontal line and I click at a point on the drawing to start the line, a new vertical or horizontal line is automatically created (without me selecting the endpoint). The new vertical or horizontal line extends far past the drawing area.

This is unique to the drawing I'm working on. I can still create new double-point, vertical or horizontal lines as usual by setting the beginning and endpoints on previously created drawings. I haven't found a setting to adjust the new line creation issue.

I have been using LibreCAD for a couple years now. Thanks to the community that supports this tool! It is an excellent tool for general design of many things. Again THANKS!

I happened to have come across a peculiar printing problem(?) when using LibreCAD printing features. In short the numbers "3", "6" and "9" print with extra vertical or diagonal lines in the character. If exported to PDF it also has these extra vertical or diagonal lines. See attached image. I am using the standard font in these drawings. I changed the fonts to some other font and these extra lines may or may not appear depending on the font selected. These extra lines do not appear in Print Preview only when actual printing is done or printed to a PDF file.

You can see this by doing the following:

1. Click the 2-Point Line tool button - The button becomes highlighted and the 2-Point Line tool becomes active.
2. Click the Horizontal Line tool button - The button becomes highlighted and the Horizontal Line tool becomes active. The 2-Point Line tool button REMAINS HIGHLIGHTED.
3. Click the 2-Point Line tool button - The button becomes UNHIGHLIGHTED, the 2-Point Line tool becomes active and the Horizontal Line tool button remains HIGHLIGHTED.

So now you're using the 2-point line tool even though it appears to be deselected and the horizontal line tool appears to be activated.

I can also click on all the buttons and they all highlight as though they're all active at once and then click on any one of them again and it becomes unhighlighted while all the others remain highlighted but it is actually the only one that's active. Crazy!

If this is a bug I can file it but I first want to make sure it's not a configuration mistake or I'm just using the program the wrong way.

Drawing changing without user modifications

I've had frequent changes to my drawings without actually making any changes myself. I'm trying to figure out if these are bugs, user error or what. Are any of these known bugs? Is there a way to avoid these issues?

A few examples:
1. Dimension value positions randomly change from their assigned position. This sometimes happens in a predictable way where you might move the value to a different position from the one it was originally placed at, save the file, print the file confirming everything's in the right place, quit the program, start again and the value position has moved (usually back to the location it was at before the change). This is random. Sometimes it will change, sometimes not.

2. Hatches mysteriously disappear when they've been stable for multiple saves and all of a sudden you open the file again and some are missing. Again, this is after saving the file then successfully printing the drawing with hatches then quiting, opening the file again. A message might appear in the command terminal window like Hatch failed due to a gap=0.000459549 between (35.0589, 316.716) and (35.0589, 316.716). Note this is a supposed gap between a point and itself. It's also in the middle of a straight line so I have no idea how a single line would have a gap in it. These are hatches for polylines that have been untouched in locked layers so I have no idea how untouched closed polylines all of a sudden have gaps.

3. Printing or exporting to PDF doesn't print hatching and appears to truncate the bottom of the drawing. There is no setting option for scaling the print to fit the page in the Print to PDF dialog. There is one in the print to printer dialog.

Edited to point out the gap reported by LibreCAD is between a point and itself (impossible???).

LibreCad won't add a divided (half) ellipse to a polyline. Advice needed

I used the polyline tool to create a polygon shape. Then I tried to replace the bottom horizontal line segment with an upward-facing elliptical arc (looks like a hill rather than a valley) as follows:

1. Explode the polyline into individual segments
2. Delete the bottom segment
3. Create an ellipse with endpoints at the attachment points of the original horizontal line using the Ellipse (Axis) tool with Snap to Endpoints enabled
4. Divide the ellipse into top and bottom halves
5. Delete the bottom half of the ellipse
6. Use Tools>Polyline>Create Polyline from Existing Segments to reform the polyline

Everytime I try to add the half ellipse segment I get the response "No Entity found." I've tried trimming endpoints, zooming to huge scale to see if the end points aren't touching and I don't see any issues. All the other straight line segments add to the polyline without problems. It also won't let me create an offset on the half ellipse. Don't know if those two problems are connected. Anyone have a solution?

SOLVED by sand1024 by switching from ellipse to arc
