I find the present, hyperlink-style manual extremely hard to read, and the PDF edition I found simply has blank spaces where the editor neither gives a graphical tool nor command for many software functions.

how can I put manually external dimensions of a 2d draw

I have used DesignCAD by IMSI to load a simple draw designed from Sketchup. After load the the 2d draw in DesignCAD (the draw was always the pattern of a bed headboard to be then compiled and used by a big sewing machine), I selected the draw, go to INFO BOX and put the real external dimensions of the lines the would be sewed by machine. But my question is, how to put the external dimensions of the draw? Example, I need the machine to sew the upholstery with this dimension: 1620 x 1030 mm. Can anyone help?

LibreCad copy from one drawing to another

Hi. Ok I only just discovered LibreCad today, in other words I'm a newbie. So i was wondering if anyone can help me out with a little problem. Ok so i imported a drawing, i can open it a view it, that bit's fine. Here is where I'm stumbling a bit. How do i go about copying stuff from the imported drawing to a new blank project.

I have filled a cross section outline with hatch. When I try to delete the hatch I also delete the outline. How can I delete hatch without deleting the outline please?

Printable pdf User Manual from Wiki

I registered last month to help develop the LibreCad documentation.

I read the 36-pages user manual by Bob Woltz, which is more a starter guide than a user manual; it is this document which got me started with LibreCAD.

And I looked at the wiki site which is rather complete and well done at first sight.

I may be old style, but I like printed documentation. What I would like to see is a pdf document reproducing the wiki site information in a printable book style, with a table of contents and a word index. Does that make sense to anybody ? If there is interest for that, I am willing to produce that document.

auto saves

I've been working on a new speaker enclosure design for hours. If you've done it you know that this can be time consuming making changes to the design after sim runs etc. Anyway, Librecad crashed and I cant seem to find where all the auto saves went. It says its auto saving anyway. Does anyone know where these are kept?

I decided to use current 2.2.1 RC3 version for tutorials, because it seems to be better than stable, at least in my opinion.

Using Librecad to analize bike geometry

Hello Everyone!

im new here, and i wanted to know how can i do this.

the basic idea is using a PNG image of the bike itself, and draw some lines representing elements of the bike geometry, by example, seatube lengt, i draw i line between the center of the crank and the top of the seatube.

and after doiung that, inserting some know values in my models so that it gives me the exact lengt and values of all the lines i draw.

following with the example lets say that i drew a line to know the effective toptube length, from the center of the saddle to the top of the stem, but i dont really know what is the exact dimension of this, but since i know the dimension of the seatube, i cant use it to determine everyting else.
this can also help me find out the values of head angle, stack, reach, and all the other measurements related to bike geometry just by using an image of the bike and a know value.

i know there must be a way to do this but i couldnt figure it out by myself so i opted to ask for help here.

Is there a way that LibreCAD line inputting the same way as AutoCAD does, as it seems a lot quicker with that method than LibreCAD's slow method of entering line length.

How can I calibrate a printer in LibreCAD

I have a problem with my prints in LibreCAD. When I print scale 1:1, the printed dimension in height is ok, but not in width. I miss 1.5mm in width for a line that should have 190mm.
If I use autocad I can calibrate the plotter. I type in the wished dimensions, do a print, measure the printed dimensions, type the measured printed dimensions in the correction filds (width, height), and save the settings. With saving I have created a *.pc3-file which I can choose for further prints with autocad. All these prints are calibrated correct.

How can I solve my problem with LibreCAD?

How to Change Scale in a Designed Architecture Floor Draw?

I am a Civil Engineer a little bit interested in using LibreCAD in my project office and I started some tests of the software trying to design just a complete bathroom (in architecture floor plant). So, after some initial disappointment with the "User Manual" about how to put dimensions in the lines (or "line entities"), the test was going on very well till I didn't find in the (very poor) LibreCAD "User Manual" how to change drawing scale (not printing scale) in a draw of a floor plant. In my floor plant draw (with a external wall rectangle of 200 cm x 400 cm) I used 1 (one) unit of screen grid for each 20 centimeters, but when I call for the dimensions numbers pressing the button "Draft" appeared "160" in the wall that was expected to be "400". I tried to modify scale ratio in every tool I supposed to be up to this change, but unsuccessfully. I am suggesting now that the "User Manual" team insert a new chapter entirely dedicated to lear the users how to deal with drawing scales "in the real world", simulating real world design with architecture draws such as the example of my LibreCAD test! In sum, it is important the "User Manual" be written by the authors with a team of engineers driving them with "real world" drawing examples.

Using ttf2lff for windows

Mini Howto for using ttf2lff in windows

1, download ttf2lff for windows from here: ttf2lff_1.zip

2, unzip it in a folder like c:\myprograms.
The resulting path to executable are c:\myprograms\ttf2lff\ttf2lff.exe

3, Open a console: click in "start_button->run" and type "cmd.exe" in the opened window.
Ok, you have opened a "console window"

4, In "console window" type the following comand and press Intro:
cd c:\myprograms\ttf2lff

5, You are ready to use, to convert arial.ttf (p.e.) located in windows font directory type:
ttf2lff.exe c:\windows\fonts\arial.ttf arial.lff

6, to use the arial.lff file created copy or move it to a LC fonts folder.

I am able to select the number 6 in 'sides' dropdown that apears, but the is no entry place for a size.

Line width and large drawing units

Hello, brand new user, here. My first sketch is in the mile scale, using miles as units. In creating a sketch on the order of 15 miles wide, how can I show a line that is several pixels wide? The widest line widths I can choose are on the order of millimeters, therefore are infinitesimally small with respect to the image scale.

what is the best way to draw a bent/curve of a street?

You know, starting with not so much radius. As the street goes on, the radius has to go smaller. After a specific point the radius gets bigger and ends at a straight normal street.

What is the right tool to use. Is there anywhere a tutorial about this?

Is there a discussion thread anywhere? I'd be interested to see if other people had a similar experience. And do you plan to revise this tutorial or incorporate feedback in the future?

(Note - I'm aware this tut. is at least seven years old so the answer to both of the above is probably 'no', but I thought I wouldn't hurt to ask :P)
